Cremation may be conducted only when 36 hours have passed since the time of death. It is executed on grounds of medical certificate of the cause of death.

The cremation is conducted after verifying/establishing the cause of death, which is done by the coroner authorized by the coroners’ service. In Slovenia cremations may be performed at the crematorium in Ljubljana or Maribor.
